I am thinking this is after Greek Mehtology and the grand scale and function of the new system. Andromeda focuses on advertising, not organic posting. I’ll cover ad-specific changes in the second section of this post. First, let’s review what’s changed (and what hasn’t) when it comes to posting content, there aren’t many major updates, but these are important reminders for marketers.

Posting Advice for the Facebook Feed Algorithm
1. Test Creative That Taps Into Different Motivators
Your content should speak to different psychological drivers. Rotate posts that focus on:

Pain points

Desired outcomes or pleasure

Testimonials and social proof

Curiosity hooks

Direct questions

2. Meaningful Engagement Matters More Than Vanity Metrics
Meta now prioritizes depth of engagement, not surface-level reactions.
The algorithm favors:

Shares

Comments (especially longer, thoughtful ones)

Watch time

Over passive actions like likes.

3. Scroll-Stopping Content Wins
The algorithm rewards content that makes users stop scrolling and stay engaged, even if they don’t click, like, or comment.
Attention matters.

4. Reels and Carousels Still Perform Well
Reels and carousels continue to get strong reach—especially when they:

Spark conversation

Encourage comments

Keep users watching or swiping

5. Organic Reach Alone Is Rarely Enough
Organic posting by itself is no longer a reliable growth strategy.
Boost or promote content that already shows strong engagement signals to extend its reach.

Advertising on Facebook and Instagram with New Algorithm
This is where Andromeda has made the biggest impact.
1. Targeting Has Fundamentally Changed
Ad targeting now works very differently:

Old system: Advertisers chose the audience using interests, behaviors, and demographics.

New system: Meta chooses the audience based on your ad creative.

Your visuals, copy, and messaging now determine who sees your ad.

2. Broad Targeting Often Outperforms Detailed Targeting
Because Andromeda is so advanced, broad audiences often perform better than tightly defined interest or behavior targeting.
In most cases, it’s best to:

Use broad targeting

Let Meta’s AI find the right audience

Exceptions include:

Location-dependent businesses

Highly specific niche products

Regulated industries (health, finance, housing, etc.)

3. Stop Over-Controlling Placements
Restricting ads to placements like:

“Facebook Feed only”

“Instagram Reels only”

Let the algorithm choose placements to maximize performance and efficiency.

What Success on Facebook Now Depends On
✔ Creating engaging, shareable content that sparks conversation
✔ Prioritizing original, high-quality videos and Reels
✔ Using analytics to guide timing, formats, and creative decisions
✔ Supporting key content with paid promotion
✔ Understanding that audience visibility may vary based on feed preference

I will keep this list updated as I learn more!

Follow @thesocialprof on Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube

Kellie Emrich, DBA
Marketing and Business Professor

What This Year Taught Us About Social Media (And How to Use It to Win Next Year)

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/what-this-year-taught-us-about-social-media-and-how-to-use-it-to-win-next-year

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/what-this-year-taught-us-about-social-media-and-how-to-use-it-to-win-next-year#comments

Uncategorized

As this year comes to a close, many students and social media marketers are asking the same question:“Am I doing this right?”It’s a fair question. This year brought algorithm changes, new platforms, more video, more noise, and higher expectations that often comes with fewer resources. For students learning the ropes and marketers managing results, it could feel overwhelming.

But here’s the good news:
This year didn’t just challenge us, it clarified what actually works.
Let’s reflect on the biggest lessons this year taught us about social media and how you can carry them into next year with confidence.

Lesson 1: Consistency Beat Virality
One of the biggest myths this year finally lost its shine: that you need to “go viral” to succeed.
What actually worked?

Showing up consistently

Posting even when engagement was low

Building trust over time

Students who posted weekly, even imperfectly, made more progress than those waiting for the perfect post. Marketers who focused on steady messaging built stronger communities than those chasing trends.

Consistency didn’t just build reach, it built confidence.

Lesson 2: Education Outperformed Entertainment
While trends still had their place, this year proved something important:
People followed accounts that helped them learn.
Educational content like tips, how-tos, behind-the-scenes, and lessons learned performed better and built longer-term trust.
For students, teaching what you’re learning helped solidify your knowledge.
For marketers, educating your audience positioned you as the go-to expert.

If your content answered questions, solved problems, or explained why something worked you are already ahead.

Lesson 3: Short-Form Video Is No Longer Optional
Reels, Shorts, and TikToks weren’t just “nice to try” anymore, they became core tools.
But here’s the lesson many people missed:
Progress mattered more than polish.
The creators and marketers who succeeded weren’t the ones with perfect lighting or editing they were the ones willing to practice, experiment, and improve.

This year rewarded action over perfection.

Lesson 4: Personal Brands Outperformed Logos
Another big shift this year?
People connected more with people than with perfectly branded feeds.
Faces, stories, and lived experiences consistently outperformed logo-only content.
Students who shared their journey felt more relatable.
Marketers who showed the humans behind the brand built stronger trust.

Authenticity wasn’t a buzzword, it was a differentiator.

Lesson 5: Strategy Reduced Burnout
Burnout was real this year, especially for marketers juggling multiple platforms and expectations. The difference between burnout and balance often came down to one thing: strategy.
Those who had:

Clear goals

Defined content pillars

A realistic posting schedule

…were able to show up without feeling overwhelmed.
Random posting led to exhaustion.
Intentional posting led to sustainability.

Time to Reflect: Questions to Ask Yourself
Before jumping into next year, take a moment to reflect:

What type of content felt easiest to create?

Which platform actually moved the needle for you?

Where did you grow the most skills, clarity, or confidence?

What’s one thing you’ll stop doing next year?

Reflection isn’t wasted time, it’s how you move forward smarter.

How to Set Yourself Up for Next Year
For Students:

Choose one platform to focus on first

Learn → document → teach what you know

Build a posting rhythm you can realistically maintain

You don’t need to know everything, you just need to keep learning out loud.

For Social Media Marketers:

Audit this year’s content (what worked, what didn’t)

Refresh your content pillars

Plan your first 30 days of content now

Clarity now saves stress later.

Moving Forward with Intention
Next year doesn’t require a brand-new you.
It requires a more intentional you.
Take what worked.
Release what didn’t.
And move forward knowing that social media rewards those who show up thoughtfully, not flawlessly.
If this year taught us anything, it’s this:
Progress always beats perfection.

Follow @thesocialprof on Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube

Take one of my Classes

Kellie Emrich, DBA
Marketing and Business Professor

How to Repurpose Old Content and Make It Work Harder for You

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/how-to-repurpose-old-content-and-make-it-work-harder-for-you

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/how-to-repurpose-old-content-and-make-it-work-harder-for-you#comments

Uncategorized

Creating content can be a daunting task. Especially with the quantity and quality needed for successful social media marketing. Just don’t forget to add your authentic brand voice, that’s what keeps your audience coming back.

2.Update and Reshare “Old” Content as It’s New to Someone!
There is a good chance that not everyone in your audience saw your original content. Algorithms shift fast, and new followers discover you daily. So don’t be shy about resharing or updating older content.

Add a new perspective. Refresh stats, visuals, and examples.

Create new visuals. Try a fresh graphic design using your brand palette

Reshare strategically. Schedule reposts every 90–120 days, especially for evergreen tips or educational content.

Remember: repetition builds recognition. The more your audience sees your message, the more likely they are to remember and act on it.

3.Reinvent the Format
Not every audience member consumes content the same way, and that’s a good thing.
Remix content across formats:

Written → Video: Turn a popular blog into a short explainer video.

Video → Written: Transcribe a webinar or podcast, then shape it into a blog post, quote graphic, or carousel.

Text → Visual: Convert quick stats or takeaways into infographics or story slides.

Short-form videos continue to outperform text-based posts in 2025, but variety builds trust, so mix it up.

4. Cross-Promote Everywhere
Don’t let your content sit on just one platform. Cross promotion helps you reach new audiences without extra work.

Publish your blog on LinkedIn Articles to reach a professional audience.

Share a snippet in your email newsletter, linking back to your website.

Add your latest blog link to your email signature and Link in Bio.

Each channel amplifies your voice and creates more opportunities for discovery.

In today’s world, where attention is everything, repurposing isn’t just recycling; it’s a good strategy. Content can take many forms and reach people in different ways.
So when you’re planning for social media marketing, ask yourself:
“How can I give this content a second life?”
Because in 2025, the best marketers aren’t the ones always making new content, they’re the ones making it go further.

Follow @thesocialprof on Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube

Take one of my Classes

Kellie Emrich, DBA
Marketing and Business Professor

Let’s Talk About Using A.I.

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/lets-talk-about-using-ai

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/lets-talk-about-using-ai#comments

Uncategorized

A.I. tools are everywhere right now, and it’s easy to feel like you need to jump in just to keep up. As an educator, I’ve always been curious about new tools and how they can enhance the way we work and connect. But before we dive in headfirst, it’s worth hitting pause to reflect on our process.

Whether you’re leading a classroom, running a business, or building community, we know that technology should support our values, not steer them. The real power of A.I. isn’t just in what it can automate or create — it’s in how we choose to use it. When guided by thoughtful, human-centered decisions, A.I. can absolutely help us work smarter and more creatively
Here are seven key reminders for using A.I. in a way that’s responsible, ethical, and aligned with your mission. Whether you’re just getting started or already experimenting with tools, these tips will help you stay grounded in what really matters.

1. Start with Values, Not Tools
Technology evolves quickly, but your business values remain constant. A.I. policies and decisions should be rooted in those values, especially if your brand stands for equity, inclusion, or trust. Build in ethical checkpoints to review A.I.-generated content for bias, accuracy, and tone.
Tip: Write down your top 3 brand values and keep them visible as you evaluate or use any A.I. tools. If a tool or output doesn’t align, pause and reassess.

2. Protect Data and Privacy
Avoid uploading sensitive or proprietary data into platforms you don’t control. Understand that some tools may use your inputs to train their models. Protecting your customer and business data is a matter of both ethics and security.
Tip: Review the privacy policy of any A.I. tool you use and create a simple “What Not to Upload” checklist for your team.

3. Bias, Accuracy, and Harm
A.I. outputs are only as reliable as the data behind them, and that data may carry historical biases or blind spots. A.I. tools can “hallucinate” (make up false information) or return biased or offensive results. Always apply human review.
Tip: Assign a “second set of eyes” before publishing any A.I. assisted content, especially for public-facing messaging.

4. Transparency Builds Trust
Be clear when A.I. is used in your content. Whether it’s assisting with a draft or generating images, transparency signals integrity. A good rule of thumb: if you hesitate to admit A.I. was used, it might be a sign to revisit how it’s being applied.
Tip: Add a short note or disclaimer when appropriate (Created with A.I)

5. Use A.I. Thoughtfully in Visual Content
Generated images can be powerful, especially when visualizing scenarios that are hard to capture. But use them responsibly: avoid deception, preserve dignity, and disclose when images are A.I. created. Consider how they might impact viewers emotionally or ethically.
Tip: If you create A.I. images, clearly label them as such in captions or alt text and consider how different audiences might perceive them.

6. Humans in the Loop
Keep people at the center. A.I. can automate tasks, but core decisions, like how and when to engage with customers, respond to errors, or represent your brand, should always involve human judgment.
Tip: Create a short list of decisions that should always involve a person (like replying to sensitive DMs or writing mission-critical copy).

7. Talk with Your Team
Before formalizing your A.I. approach, engage your team. Understand how they're already using A.I., where they see opportunities, and what concerns or questions they have. This ensures your policy reflects both operational realities and shared ethics.
Tip: Ask your team, “How are you using A.I. right now? What’s helping, and what feels off?”

Over the past year, I’ve spent a lot of time learning, testing, and talking with others about A.I., and I’ll be honest, it’s both exciting and overwhelming. There are powerful tools out there that can truly support the work we do, especially when it comes to saving time and boosting creativity. But what’s become really clear to me is this: the how matters just as much as the what.

A.I. can absolutely help us, but only when it’s rooted in the values that drive your work. I’ve learned that it’s not about keeping up with every trend but about asking better questions.
So, if you’re exploring A.I. too, my advice is simple: stay curious, stay human, and lead with intention. Let technology support you, but never let it replace what makes your business, classroom, or community uniquely yours.

Follow @thesocialprof on Facebook, Instagram, or You Tube

Take one of my Classes

Kellie Emrich, DBA
Marketing Professor and Consultant

AI Terms Every Marketer Should Know

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/ai-terms-every-marketer-should-know

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/ai-terms-every-marketer-should-know#comments

Uncategorized

Whether you’re launching campaigns, creating content, or optimizing customer experiences, AI is everywhere. But if you want your posts to reach the right audience, understanding LinkedIn’s algorithm is crucial. Like Facebook and Instagram, engagement plays a significant role in how your content is distributed. The more you interact with others, the more LinkedIn will reward you by increasing the visibility of your posts.

Here’s a breakdown of what you need to know about the LinkedIn algorithm and actionable steps to improve your content strategy.

1. Engagement Is Key—Give and You Shall Receive
Just like other social platforms, LinkedIn favors posts that drive meaningful interactions. The algorithm prioritizes content that sparks conversation, and your business page activity level directly influences how widely your posts are distributed. That means your business page should be commenting on other people’s posts, responding to comments on your own, and being an active participant in discussions can boost your visibility.
What You Can Do:

Engage with industry peers, prospects, and thought leaders. Spend time commenting on relevant posts in your niche before and after you publish your own content.

Avoid being the first comment on your own post. Let organic engagement happen first before adding additional context or clarifications in the comments. This helps boost initial reach naturally.

Comment on others’ posts before you publish. Engaging with others right before posting your own content can increase the likelihood that they’ll return the favor, boosting your post’s visibility.

Encourage thoughtful, in-depth comments. Posts with meaningful discussions tend to perform better. Ask open-ended questions, respond thoughtfully, tag relevant people, and keep the conversation going.

2. Dwell Time Matters—Keep People Engaged Longer
"Dwell time" refers to the amount of time users spend on your post. The longer they stay, the better LinkedIn perceives your content. Well-structured, thought-provoking posts that keep people reading will perform better in the algorithm.
What You Can Do:

Hook your audience with a compelling first sentence. Start with a bold statement, an intriguing question, or a surprising fact to encourage users to keep reading.

Format for readability. Break up long paragraphs, use bullet points, and incorporate bold text or emojis to highlight key points. This makes your content more skimmable and keeps users engaged.

Encourage interaction with open-ended questions. Posts that prompt responses tend to keep people on the page longer. Try asking:

"Have you tried this LinkedIn strategy? What worked for you?"
"What’s your biggest challenge with LinkedIn engagement?"

3. Post Consistently to Stay in the Algorithm’s Favor
Posting frequency plays a role in keeping your profile visible. LinkedIn rewards active users, so maintaining a regular posting schedule will help keep you top-of-mind with your network.
What You Can Do:

Aim for at least two-three posts per week. This keeps your content circulating in the feed and improves overall engagement.

At a minimum, post once per week. If you can’t commit to multiple posts, at least aim for consistency. A single post per week is better than sporadic bursts of activity.

4. Personal Stories and Insights Drive Engagement
Unlike other platforms, LinkedIn thrives on authenticity. People engage more with personal experiences, reflections, and behind-the-scenes content than they do with generic corporate updates.
What You Can Do:

Share personal lessons, career milestones, and industry insights. These types of posts resonate more and generate higher engagement.

Tell a story. Whether it’s a challenge you overcame, a career pivot, or an unexpected lesson learned, storytelling helps create an emotional connection with your audience.

5. Employee Advocacy and Leveraging Personal Profiles. While LinkedIn business pages have value, personal profiles can see greater organic reach. The LinkedIn algorithm prioritizes content from individuals over brands, making employee advocacy a powerful strategy to expand your company’s visibility. Engagement from employees and those you tag in post is important. Also, the sooner they like, share, or comment on a post after it is posted is key. Their likes, shares, and comments, especially within the first few hours of posting, can greatly amplify a post’s visibility.

What You Can Do:

Encourage employees to share company updates. Rather than relying solely on your LinkedIn business page, get team members involved in commenting and sharing content. Their personal networks can significantly expand the reach of your posts.

Mix company news with personal insights. If you’re sharing a company announcement, pair it with a personal reflection or take away to make it more relatable.

Final Thoughts
Success on LinkedIn isn’t just about what you post—it’s about how you engage. By actively participating in conversations, structuring your content for maximum readability, and sharing authentic experiences, you can work with the LinkedIn algorithm instead of against it.

Follow @thesocialprof on Facebook, Instagram, or You Tube

Take one of my Classes

Kellie Emrich, DBA
Marketing Professor and Consultant

Facebook and Instagram Social Media Algorithms Trends and What to do With Them

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/facebook-social-media-algorithms-trends-and-what-to-do-with-them

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/facebook-social-media-algorithms-trends-and-what-to-do-with-them#comments

Uncategorized

Social media platforms are constantly evolving, and keeping up with algorithm changes is essential for maximizing reach and engagement. The way content is prioritized shifts frequently, making it important to stay updated. Through my research and ongoing work, I track algorithm trends across some of the major platforms—Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Below, I break down what I see in 2025 and how you can adapt your strategy for better results knowing these trends

Facebook Algorithm
Facebook’s algorithm continues to prioritize meaningful engagement and community-building. Here are some key changes and insights:

1. Facebook is emphasizing deeper interactions, such as longer comments and diverse reactions (not just "likes"). Posts that spark authentic conversations are very valuable.
What You Can Do

Instead of just sharing updates, ask your audience for their opinions. Example: “We just launched a new product! What’s one feature you wish every product like this had?” instead of “We just launched a new product”

Share personal or customer stories and ask followers to share their own experiences.

Industry-relevant but friendly debates encourage longer responses. Example: “AI is changing marketing fast—some love it, others worry about losing the ‘human touch.’ Where do you stand?”

2. While business pages are still relevant, content shared by individuals (especially employees) get more visibility than business pages.
What You Can Do

Share your business content from your personal profile and encourage employees to do the same.

Encourage employees and advocates to share your content from their personal profiles as well as like and comment.

Create and actively manage a Facebook Group centered around your brand’s niche.

3. Facebook is showing users more posts from accounts they don’t follow if the content aligns with their interests. This means discoverability has increased—your content can reach beyond your current followers if it's engaging.
What You Can Do

Use Relevant Keywords & Hashtags – Facebook now integrates hashtags and AI-driven discovery, so include industry-relevant keywords and branded hashtags. Example: Instead of “Check out our new eco-friendly water bottle!” Try “Looking for a sustainable way to stay hydrated? Our eco-friendly water bottle is here! #SustainableLiving #EcoFriendly”

Post Educational tips, industry insights, how-to guides

Post behind-the-scenes videos, storytelling, success stories, and personal experiences. Provoke emotions in your posts

Posting about industry trends or current events increases the chance of Facebook recommending your content.

4. It’s no longer enough to just post content. You need to engage in comments, reply quickly, and be part of the conversation.
What You Can Do

Reply to comments and start conversations to boost visibility.

Posting when your audience is most active increases visibility. Experiment with different posting times and track engagement patterns.

Facebook now integrates recommended hashtags, so use them wisely.

5. Video Content – Short-form and long-form video still perform well—invest in quality video storytelling.
What You Can Do

Use Facebook Reels

Instagram Algorithm
1. Instagram also prioritizes consistent content that receives likes, comments, shares, and saves. Posts that spark meaningful interactions are shown to more users.
What You Can Do

Encourage engagement by asking open-ended questions in captions and using interactive elements like polls and quizzes in Stories.

Keep your captions and calls to action genuine and valuable to encourage organic engagement

Reply to comments and DMs within three hours to boost visibility in the algorithm.

Instagram rewards regular posting. Aim for daily, every other day, or at least twice a week for consistent visibility.

2. Unlike Facebook, Instagram still emphasizes new content meaning the newest posts appear first when users log in.
What You Can Do

Post when your audience is most active to maximize reach.

3. Instagram populates feeds based on user interests and followed hashtags. If someone interacts frequently with content related to a certain topic, similar posts (even from accounts they don’t follow) will appear in their feed.
What You Can Do

Experiment with different hashtags and analyze which ones attract the most engagement.

Captions should spark discussion, storytelling, or insight. Ask open-ended questions to drive more comments.

4. Unlike Facebook, Instagram does not prioritize personal content over business posts. However, posts with higher engagement naturally perform better, so creating engaging content is key.
What You Can Do

Focus on authentic, value-driven posts rather than promotional content

5. Short-form video content remains Instagram’s most favored format. High-performing Reels are pushed into the Explore page and non-followers’ feeds, increasing reach dramatically.
What You Can Do

Use trending sounds, captions, and effects to boost engagement on Reels.

Short-form video remains king! Use trending audio, captions, and interactive stickers to make your content stand out.

Facebook, Instagram, and Threads Changing Fact Checking Process.

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/facebook-instagram-and-threads-changing-fact-checking-process

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/facebook-instagram-and-threads-changing-fact-checking-process#comments

Uncategorized

Meta announced that it will end its third-party fact-checking program and transition to a Community Notes model. Currently, Meta relies on certified partners, such as the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), which connects fact-checkers worldwide. Under the new Community Notes system, users—rather than independent fact-checkers—will be responsible for moderating posts by adding context when needed.

The timing of the complete role out has not been announced. Here is the announce from Meta:
https://about.fb.com/news/2025/01/meta-more-speech-fewer-mistakes/

Navigating social media will become more challenging as the balance between fact and opinion remains difficult. Even before Meta’s policy change, conflicts in comment sections were common, with users frequently disputing posts. On X, the Community Notes system has faced criticism, as many users ignore or mock the added context rather than taking it seriously. It remains uncertain whether Meta’s approach will face similar skepticism.

Users may primarily encounter content that reinforces their existing beliefs, increasing platform polarization. This makes it harder to identify reliable sources, leading to confusion about what information is credible and potentially eroding trust in content creators and brands. Without clear guidelines for user and platform safety, Meta’s commitment to free expression on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads could mirror X’s approach, which has faced criticism and negative public perception

Business should closely monitor how the public responds to Meta’s new fact-checking policy. Ensuring social media accounts remain free from misleading content may become more challenging. Here are some additional strategies as move to this new model:

Ensure all social media content is factually accurate and well-researched.

Cite credible sources for claims, especially for statistics, industry insights, or trending topics.

Address misinformation quickly if a post is flagged or criticized.

Position the brand as a reliable source of information through consistent, high-quality content.

Encourage authentic engagement by responding to customer inquiries and feedback transparently.

Keep a close eye on Community Notes to understand how content is being evaluated.

Track audience responses and adjust messaging to maintain a positive brand reputation.

Use A/B testing to gauge audience reception and adapt messaging accordingly.

Implement fact-checking protocols for all marketing and social media content before publication.

If not already doing these marketing strategies expand focus to LinkedIn, email marketing and website content to maintain direct communication with customers.

Meta’s policy change means businesses must be proactive in maintaining credibility, monitoring content perception, and adapting marketing strategies. By focusing on transparency, engagement, and diversified marketing efforts, brands can navigate this shift successfully while maintaining trust and influence on social media.

What’s Changing on Social Media in 2025? Staying ahead of these changes is essential to maintain visibility and engagement. Here's a breakdown of updates you need to know for 2025:

1. Algorithm Updates: Prioritizing Authenticity and Community
Social platforms are doubling down on rewarding genuine engagement over vanity metrics. Focus on creating shareable, conversation-starting content and encourage your audience to interact in authentic ways.
Instagram & TikTok: Expect content that sparks meaningful conversations to rank higher, with algorithm updates favoring comments, saves, and shares over simple likes.
Facebook: Groups are still important, with an increased focus on fostering community. The platform is also refining its AI-powered feed personalization to surface content users are more likely to engage with.
LinkedIn: Quality thought leadership posts and consistent activity will dominate the feed as LinkedIn's algorithm rewards depth over frequency.

2. The Rise of New Platforms and Niches
Emerging platforms are gaining traction, offering exciting opportunities for early adopters. Keep an eye on emerging platforms and assess whether they align with your audience and brand voice before diving in.

BeReal Evolution: After its viral growth, BeReal is introducing branded content and ad-free creator collaborations, leaning into unfiltered authenticity.
Decentralized Social Networks: Platforms like Bluesky and Mastodon continue to attract users interested in privacy and decentralized control.
Audio Renaissance: With podcasting and live audio spaces still relevant, platforms such as Spotify and Clubhouse are experimenting with gamification and monetization for creators.

3. Features That Drive Conversions
Platforms are making it easier than ever for businesses to sell directly through social media.

Live Shopping: TikTok Shop and Instagram Live Shopping remain dominant, with creators playing a crucial role in driving sales. Expect new AR features to allow users to “try on” products virtually.
AI-Powered Ads: Meta and Google are leveraging AI to create more dynamic and personalized ad formats, making targeting more effective.
One-Click Payments: Platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Pinterest are rolling out seamless, integrated payment systems for instant purchases.

4. AI and Automation Take Over
Social media management and content creation are being transformed by AI. Leverage AI to save time but ensure your content retains a personal, human touch.

Content Creation: AI-powered tools like Canva’s Magic Studio and ChatGPT are streamlining graphic design, copywriting, and even video editing.
Customer Service: Automated chatbots integrated with platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp allow brands to handle inquiries 24/7.
Content Moderation: Platforms are leaning on AI to identify harmful content faster and keep communities safe.

What Does This Mean for You?
2025 is shaping up to be a year of exciting shifts and opportunities in the social media space. Whether you’re a creator, entrepreneur, or marketer, the key to success lies in adaptability. Stay updated on platform changes, focus on authenticity, and embrace tools and trends that align with your brand goals.

Thanks for reading. Let me know if you have any questions or additional tips!
Kellie Emrich
Follow @thesocialprof on Facebook

How to Monitor and Clean Up Your Personal Brand Online

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/how-to-monitor-and-clean-up-your-personal-brand-online

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/how-to-monitor-and-clean-up-your-personal-brand-online#comments

Uncategorized

Your personal brand is represented online, whether you know it or not. One of the most critical aspects is the representation of diverse voices and perspectives. In today's globalized world, businesses need to recognize and celebrate this diversity in their social media content.

The Importance of Diversity in Social Media Content
Diversity in social media content goes beyond surface-level inclusion. It's about reflecting the real world, where people from different backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and abilities coexist. When businesses embrace diversity, they not only broaden their appeal but also build deeper connections with their audience. Here are some reasons why diversity is crucial in social media marketing:

Reflects Social Realities: By showcasing diverse voices, brands can create content that mirrors the world around us, making their platforms more relatable and authentic.

Fosters Inclusivity: Inclusive content makes people feel seen and valued, leading to stronger brand loyalty and a sense of community.

Drives Innovation: Diverse perspectives can inspire creativity and innovation in content creation, helping brands stand out in the digital environment.

Enhances Brand Reputation: Companies that prioritize diversity and inclusivity are often viewed more favorably by consumers, positively impacting their brand reputation.

Promoting Inclusivity and Social Justice Through Social Media
Businesses have a unique opportunity to use their platforms for good by promoting inclusivity and social justice. Here are some ways they can do this:

Amplify Diverse Voices: Give a platform to underrepresented groups by featuring their stories, experiences, and perspectives in your content.

Collaborate with Diverse Creators: Partner with content creators from various backgrounds to bring authenticity and fresh perspectives to your campaigns.

Educate Your Audience: Use your platform to share educational content about social justice issues, highlighting the importance of diversity and inclusion.

Support Social Causes: Align your brand with social causes that promote equity and justice and use your social media channels to raise awareness and support for these initiatives.

Practice What You Preach: Ensure that your internal policies and practices reflect your commitment to diversity and inclusion. This authenticity will resonate with your audience.

Conclusion
In conclusion, the representation of diverse voices and perspectives in social media content is critical. As brands continue to navigate social media marketing, they must prioritize inclusivity and social justice in their content strategies. By doing so, they can contribute to a more equitable and inclusive digital world.
As we move forward, let's remember that diversity is not just about checking a box. It's about embracing human experiences and using our platforms to amplify voices that have long been marginalized. In the end, a commitment to diversity and inclusivity is not just good for business; it's good for society.

Thanks for reading. Let me know if you have any questions or additional tips!
Kellie Emrich
Follow @thesocialprof on Facebook

LinkedIn Algorithm Changes

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/linkedin-algorithm-changes

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/linkedin-algorithm-changes#comments

Uncategorized

LinkedIn has continued to make algorithm changes focused on content distribution. Instead of describing intricate technical details, I have tried to simplify it:

Generative: This refers to the model's ability to generate text or other content. It can produce coherent and contextually relevant text based on the input it receives.

Pre-trained: Before being used for tasks, the model undergoes a training where it learns from a massive amount of data, learning things like grammar, language structure, and common-sense reasoning from a diverse range of sources on the internet.

Transformer: Transformers are a type of deep learning model that has been particularly effective in natural language processing tasks. They use a mechanism called attention to weigh the importance of different words in a sentence, allowing them to capture complex relationships within the text.

In summary ChatGPT is a type of artificial intelligence that leverages information and patterns from the internet and its surroundings to provide helpful responses to prompts. You can interact with ChatGPT by asking questions, much like having a regular conversation. People are finding all kinds of ways to use the functionality of Chat GPT.

I use this tool for a range of purposes, including summarizing articles, stimulating idea generation, assisting with editing, and similar to a search engine However, my primary utilization centers around its role as a research tool, primarily due to its capacity to provide responses that are notably more detailed compared to those typically obtained from conventional research methods.

How to get started?
One way to get started with ChatGPT is to create a free OpenAI account. Meta, the parent company of Instagram, has recently launched Threads, an app designed for sharing text updates and participating in public conversations. Surpassing all expectations, Threads has an impressive user base of over 100 millio, cementing its position as the fastest-growing online platform in history. This remarkable achievement has even outpaced the growth of ChatGPT, the renowned OpenAI chatbot that took two months to reach the same milestone.

To join Threads, users are required to sign up using their Instagram accounts. This seamless integration allows their profile details and follow lists to be automatically populated within the app. Unlike Twitter's real-time, reverse chronological timeline, Threads feature an algorithmic feed reminiscent of Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, the app expands users' content exposure beyond accounts they follow, enhancing unforeseen discovery.
For the time being, Threads is exclusively available on mobile devices, reinforcing its commitment to a mobile-first experience. Furthermore, the platform takes a notable departure from Twitter by intentionally avoiding the promotion of hard news or political content. Instead, Threads focuses on fostering conversations around personal interests and shared experiences.
Similar to Twitter's defining format, Threads limits posts to a concise 500 characters. However, it distinguishes itself by enabling users to include links, photos, and videos of up to 5 minutes in length. Furthermore, Meta envisions expanding Threads' compatibility with open and interoperable social networks, envisioning a future where the app seamlessly integrates with various platforms.

Important Points to Consider Before Using Threads

While Threads may appear to be Instagram's answer to Twitter, it aligns with Meta's strategy to leverage the challenges Twitter currently faces. Projections indicate that Twitter may lose 32 million users worldwide by 2024, making it an opportune moment for Meta to capitalize on the turmoil. Notably, Meta has a history of incorporating successful features from other apps, exemplified by the introduction of Stories, inspired by Snapchat's innovative model.

It's worth noting that Threads does not provide an option to delete your account; instead, users can only deactivate their accounts. Additionally, at present, the only way to create a Threads account is by signing up with an existing Instagram account. Consequently, users are unable to utilize a unique username or account if they choose to join the platform. This limitation implies that once users decide to discontinue their Threads usage, they cannot remove their account without sacrificing their Instagram account and losing their followers in the process. While this may deter some users, the allure of being part of a rapidly growing platform with unique content-sharing possibilities may outweigh this concern.

As Threads continues to gain momentum and carve out its niche in the social media landscape, it remains to be seen how it will adapt and respond to user feedback. Whether it can sustain its unprecedented growth and establish itself as a viable alternative to Twitter is yet to be determined. Nevertheless, Threads represents an exciting development in the realm of social networking, introducing new avenues for expression and connection.

Kellie Emrich, DBA
https://www.linkedin.com/in/kellieemrich/

Follow @thesocialprof on Facebook for more social media marketing tips

Navigating Nonprofit Success in 2023: Unveiling the Essential Social Media Trends

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/navigating-nonprofit-success-in-2023-unveiling-the-essential-social-media-trends

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/navigating-nonprofit-success-in-2023-unveiling-the-essential-social-media-trends#comments

Uncategorized

In the ever-evolving social media landscape, nonprofits should stay abreast of the latest trends to effectively engage their audience, raise donations, and advance their causes. By utilizing this medium, organizations can host virtual events, share updates, conduct interviews, and engage in interactive Q&A sessions, fostering meaningful interactions.

Leveraging Influencer Partnerships: Collaborating with social media influencers who align with their mission can greatly expand a nonprofit's reach and raise awareness. By teaming up with relevant influencers, nonprofits can tap into new audiences, drive engagement, and cultivate a broader support base.

Exploring Micro-Donations and Peer-to-Peer Fundraising: Encouraging micro-donations and peer-to-peer fundraising can diversify a nonprofit's revenue streams. Leveraging social media platforms, nonprofits can facilitate easy contributions in small amounts and encourage supporters to rally their networks, creating a ripple effect of giving. Micro-donations are contributing to a shift in the charitable giving landscape. Next week's blog post will be all about Microdonations and how they can yield tremendous potential for charitable fundraising from the public.

Immersive Experiences with Augmented Reality (AR): Nonprofits can leverage the power of AR technology to create immersive and engaging experiences for their audience. By offering virtual tours of their projects, interactive storytelling, or gamified challenges, nonprofits can foster greater awareness, empathy, and donations.

Embracing Social Advocacy and Activism: Nonprofits should embrace their role as advocates and actively engage in relevant social issues. By sharing educational content, participating in conversations, and amplifying underrepresented voices, organizations can foster stronger connections, inspire change, and drive social impact.

In conclusion, nonprofits can enhance their social media strategies by capitalizing on these trends in 2023. By delivering authentic and personalized content, harnessing live video streaming, forging influencer partnerships, exploring micro-donations and AR experiences, and embracing social advocacy, nonprofits can effectively engage their audience and drive positive change in the digital landscape.

Kellie Emrich, DBA
https://www.linkedin.com/in/kellieemrich/

Follow @thesocialprof on Facebook for more social media marketing tips

The Power of Social Media Listening and Research in 2023: Unveiling Insights in the Digital Age

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/the-power-of-social-media-listening-and-research-in-2023-unveiling-insights-in-the-digital-age

https://www.thesocialprof.com/blog/the-power-of-social-media-listening-and-research-in-2023-unveiling-insights-in-the-digital-age#comments

Uncategorized

In 2023, the art of social media listening and research has evolved, allowing businesses and individuals alike to gain invaluable insights into the ever-changing landscape of the online world. Through sentiment analysis, businesses can gauge public opinion about their products, services, or campaigns, identify pain points, and respond effectively. This allows companies to enhance customer experience, resolve issues promptly, and build stronger relationships with their target audience.

Competitive Analysis: Understanding your competitors is crucial for staying ahead in the game. Social media research offers valuable insights into competitor activities, campaign effectiveness, and consumer perception. By analyzing competitor strategies and consumer responses, businesses can fine-tune their own approaches, identify gaps in the market, and gain a competitive edge.

Influencer Identification: In 2023, influencer marketing continues to thrive. Social media research enables businesses to identify relevant influencers aligned with their brand values and target audience. By partnering with influencers who resonate with their customers, companies can amplify their reach, drive engagement, and build trust in a more authentic and relatable manner.

Trend Forecasting: Social media platforms are the breeding grounds for trends. By monitoring conversations, hashtags, and viral content, businesses can identify emerging trends and adapt their strategies accordingly. This allows brands to stay relevant, create innovative campaigns, and establish themselves as thought leaders in their respective industries.

Crisis Management: Social media can be a double-edged sword. Negative feedback or crises can spread like wildfire, potentially damaging a brand's reputation. However, social media listening empowers businesses to detect and address issues promptly, minimizing the impact of crises. Real-time monitoring and swift responses demonstrate a company's commitment to its customers' concerns, helping rebuild trust and maintain brand loyalty.

In 2023, social media listening and research have become indispensable tools for businesses and individuals seeking to thrive in the digital landscape. While many organizations focus on creating a strong website and social media presence, leveraging your Google profile can also be a game-changer. In this Blog, I will explore how you can effectively use your Google profile to support and promote your nonprofit, helping you connect with a wider audience, gain credibility, and drive meaningful engagement.

Utilize Google My Business

Google My Business (GMB) is a powerful tool that allows businesses, including nonprofits, to manage their online presence across Google Search and Maps. By claiming and optimizing your nonprofit's listing on GMB, you can increase your visibility and improve your chances of being discovered by potential supporters. Ensure that your GMB profile contains accurate information, such as your organization's address, hours of operation, and a detailed description of your cause. Encourage your supporters to leave reviews, which can boost your credibility and attract more people to engage with your nonprofit.
      2. Share Compelling Content and Updates
Your Google profile provides an excellent platform to share compelling content and inform your audience about your nonprofit's activities and achievements. Utilize the "Posts" feature on your Google profile to share news, success stories, upcoming events, and volunteer opportunities. Regularly update your profile with fresh and engaging content to captivate your audience's attention and foster a sense of community. Consider integrating multimedia elements like photos and videos to make your posts more visually appealing and shareable.

3. Leverage Google Reviews and Testimonials
Positive reviews and testimonials can significantly impact your nonprofit's reputation and credibility. Encourage your supporters, volunteers, and beneficiaries to leave reviews on your Google profile, sharing their experiences and the positive impact your organization has had on their lives. Positive reviews not only attract potential supporters, but also provide social proof of your nonprofit's effectiveness and trustworthiness. Respond to reviews promptly and gratefully to show your appreciation for the support and feedback you receive.

4. Use Google for Nonprofits Program
Google offers a dedicated program called Google for Nonprofits, providing eligible organizations with a range of tools and resources to support their mission. By joining the program, you can access benefits like Google Ad Grants, which provides free advertising credits, and G Suite for Nonprofits, offering productivity tools like Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Docs. Take advantage of these offerings to streamline your nonprofit's operations, collaborate more effectively, and expand your online presence.

Your Google profile can be a powerful tool for your nonprofit, enabling you to amplify your impact, connect with a wider audience, and foster meaningful engagement. By optimizing your profile, utilizing Google My Business, sharing compelling content, leveraging reviews and testimonials, and utilizing Google's nonprofit resources, you can enhance your nonprofit's online presence and increase support for your cause. But can it be…
People need to find fairness. I tell my kids all the time that life is not fair. But this does not keep them or most of us from striving to find and feel fairness in daily interactions. You can use this in marketing messages like social media posts by appealing to this desire for fairness. For example, a nonprofit could say, “Did you know members of our community are denied healthcare. Do you think this is fair?” Let your customers know you are here to level the playing field. Customers feel encouraged when their business experience is transparent, and when they think they matter to a business. Customer Service comes into play here. As a business, be responsive, let the customer know they matter and treated fairly.

Lesson 3 – Why Pay More - Input Bias
Customers are willing to pay more for services that seem to take longer, or pay more for a product that takes an exceptional amount of time to develop. This is what Psychologists call input bias. People want to know the effort you put into something. You may have become an expert at a skill, so it takes you less time than most other people. It would help if you let customers know what you went through to develop an expertise. For example, “After 5 years of graduate work and 3 years traveling” or “Every piece we make is handmade and quality assured.” These statements work well in an email subject line to get people’s attention. People want quality and make decisions about quality relatively quickly. Because of input bias, business owners should refer to the time and effort taken to create a product or service.

Lesson 4 – “The New Power Nap”
So, this one doesn’t have much to do with Marketing, but I find it fascinating, and I can’t wait to give it a try. Daniel Pin calls this the Nappaccino. You have a cup of coffee, then nap for 20 minutes. You will wake up just in time to get a boost of energy from the caffeine. A boost of energy around 3:00 every day sounds good to me :). He also states the ideal break time is 17 minutes for every 52 minutes of work. You might think you are losing time, but research shows that breaks help increase productivity.

Lesson 5 – You Don’t Control Me
People like to be in control, so customers need choices. When customers have options, they are deciding on how to respond, not if they should respond. Moreover, the more control a customer feels, the more likely they will do what you want them to. Instead of asking, “Would you do this?” ask, “Which one do you choose?” Provide options for getting more information. For example, when you want a customer to contact you, provide options such as, Click-here, email or give them a scannable code to use. Different package options, contact options, and more information options appeal to a customer’s sense of control.

Lesson 6 – A Little Flattery Goes A Long Way - Labeling
Refer to people how they would like to envision themselves. A wellness company could start an email with “As a responsible person taking control over their health” or “As a valuable resource to your organization.” Shining the light on your customers’ visions and goals allows them to see that you know them and understand what they need.
